2nd of August, 9:00 p.m., PEARL Festival Club: Despite hundreds of articles and books, we still don’t know much about Marlene Dietrich. Who she loved, after whom she only lusted. With whom she played, who she cared for. There was her husband and hundreds of lovers. There was a beloved daughter raised by her husband’s mistress and women who abandoned their men for Marlene. Enough material for a dozen of biographies and films. In this show we see Marlene in her element- on stage. Here she isn’t a whimsical film star anymore; on stage she is a femme fatale, a psychic. She devours women and men from the first sounds. Her songs are like heroin. Who listens to her singing becomes addicted to the song and to the artist. Marlene isn’t here, but we can feel her presence because she sings about the things still most important in life.


Cast:

Graduated from the Faculty of Vocal Music and Drama at the Music Academy in Bydgoszcz. For many years she cooperated with ‘Nova’ Opera House in Bydgoszcz. Debuted in Hollywood and then acted on stages in Europe, North America, Lebanon and Israel in many operas, operettas and music-halls. The winner of the Robert Stolz International Singing Competition in Hamburg, received a gold medal for popularizing Stolz’s music. The same medal was awarded to Marlene Dietrich.

Joanna Matuszak – Rosi Wisental

A graduate from the Faculty of Acting at the Łódź Film School. Since 1995 she cooperates with the Modern Theatre in Szczecin and with Krypta Theatre (Szczecin). In 1995 together with her troupe she received a prize during ‘Counterpoint’- XXX National Review of Small Form Theatres for Clare Mcintyre’s “Without tenderness”. In 2001 she was awarded a prize during ‘Counterpoint’- XXXVI National Review of Small Form Theatres for Roland Topor’s ‘Da Vinci was right’. In 2005 she received a mention during the Kalish Theatre Meeting for the role of Maria Lukiankowa in Nikolaj Erdman’s ‘The Suicide’.

A graduate from the Faculty of Acting at the Ludwik Solski State Theatre School in Krakow.  Debuted with the role of Girgesh in Julian Stryjkowski’s ‘Sodom’ staged in the Modern Theatre in Szczecin. In 1999 received an Amber Ring award for the role of Pinoccio. The author of numerous outdoor spectacles, cooperating with Kana Theatre. Former director of the Szczecin Panomime Theatre, now the artistic director of Krypta Theatre.
