Born in Mexico. He graduated from the University of Mexico (law). It is said, that Tarkowski’s films where the reason why he put his law career away and started to make films. After several short productions (1998-99) he came back to Mexico to direct his feature debut “Japon”, which premiered at the Rotterdam IFF and was screened in Cannes. His second film “Battle in Heaven” (2005) was also screened in Cannes. “Silent Light” is his third feature film.
