She studied film directing at the Filmakademie Wien. In 1996 she made short film “Flora”, which was awarded with the Léopard de Demain Award at Locarno FF. Her diploma film “Inter-view” received Cinéfondation Jury Prize at Cannes IFF in 1999. Two years later her debut feature “Lovely Rita” was presented in Cannes in section Un Certain Regard, and later was screened in cinemas of 20 countries. Her second feature “Hotel” was also screened in Un Certain Regard section in 2004, and was awarded with Best Austrian Film Award at Diagonale 2005. “Lourdes” is her third feature.
