Lech Majewski’s “Garden of Earthly Delights” is based on his novel “Metaphysics”. Main characters are Chris, marine engineer, lone wolf living his life surrounded by symmetry and arithmetic, and Claudia – Italian girl fascinated by Hieronim Bosch’s paintings and medieval alchemy. They both seek their place on Earth, trying to find and define, in different ways, truth about their lives. Chris records with his cam every minute spend together with Claudia, while she tries to decipher guidelines hidden in Bosh’s “Garden of Earthly Delights”, guidelines for how to achieve paradise on Earth. Will she make it? Will she manage to do it on time? Sudden and unexpected diagnosis of serious, maybe even terminal, illness, forces Claudia to hurry up. At the same time Chris’s filming passion gains new meaning. The film crew during filming was limited to the necessary minimum and in many shots actors filmed themselves. ‘I wanted to introduce and obtain such degree of intimacy, I’ve never seen before in any “regular” movie’, says Lech Majewski, director.
