5th of August, 9:00 p.m., PERLA Festival Club. DISPARATES is a vocal-instrumental band that was founded in Toruń. Their music is a subtle fusion of energetic folk and alternative rock music seasoned with emotionally loaded lyrics. The name of the band, being a Spanish word, is difficult to pronounce. For many people it’s something unpronounceable at first… To make things funnier, the word means ‘folly’ or ‘nonsense’…

Their debut album, released in February 2010 on Lou & Rocked Boys label, is called „Fafaberie”. This poetic tale, sweetened with a load of rhymes, is constantly receiving complimentary reviews in press and attracts more and more listeners.

The ones who demand more complex sensations will find their true life stories intriguing, told with the use of interesting literary visions. If thinking was fashionable nowadays, we could take a risk and state that DISPARATES are potential successors of the famous Polish band, KULT; their music resembles the decadent motifs of the early RAZ DWA TRZY band and messy folk of SZWAGIERKOLASKA. Their genuine lyrics are their characteristic feature.



An average student needs to look through a couple of dictionaries to understand their texts. We’ve been waiting for such artists for quite a long. Artists that are serious and witty at the same time, their music mainstream and artistic; artists who are not afraid to combine traditional Polish or French music with rock aesthetics and who are fluent speakers of their mother tongue. In their compositions you’ll find throbbing pulse of reggae music and folk rhythm. You may ask why we need such foolery in music. Bartłomiej Kulik, the lead singer and author of lyrics, says: “My ambition is not a show, but a play with my pen in the heart of my hell”- and this devilish mixture is what we may expect from the band.

DISPARATES is unquestionably one of the most original Polish bands of the last couple of months. Their formation may initiate a comeback to the time when each artist had to master his instrument in order to create a full harmony with other musicians.
