2010 TWO RIVERSIDES Opening Concert

Two sides of the Vistula River flowing through Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec will be literally and metaphorically connected for the fourth time by art, artists and spectators.

This year’s edition of TWO RIVERSIDES Festival will be inaugurated by Józef Skrzek and the SBB band concert held on the Vistula River.

Józef Skrzek’s piano prelude ‘VIATOR’ will begin this musical journey. Many guests will appear on our floating scene: the Choire from Poniatowa and vocalists Beata Mańkowska (mezzosoprano, graduate from The Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice), Zbigniew Wałach (a musician and composer from Silesian Beskids cultivating highland musical traditions), Misha Ogorodov (a singer, musician, composer from St. Petersburg), Paul Lawler (a British composer of contemporary trends in the world el-Music), Apostolis Anthimos (a Greek musician of Polish origin, multiinstrumentalist, for years the guitarist of the SBB band), Ireneusz Głyk (an extraordinarily versatile percussionist).

The concert’s program includes music from the films directed by Lech Majewski (the retrospective review of his works and his presence at the Festival are a great advantage of the event), Jerzy Skolimowski (Hands up), Piotr Szulkin (War of the Worlds). The Festival audience will have a great chance to listen to the sounds of a mouth-organ. Józef Skrzek will be playing blues from the film ‘Adolescence’ directed by Mieczysław Waśkowski.

Instead of tickets, we will sell charity tokens prepared specially for the concert. All profits from the token sale will go to help the flood victims in Janowiec.

A detailed program of the Festival is available on www.dwabrzegi.pl

Let’s meet in Kazimierz Dolny, Janowiec by the Vistula River and Puławy from July 31 to August 8.
