August 5 and 6: And God created The Double Bass

The retrospective review of works of the most outstanding actors was initiated at TWO RIVERSIDES Festival two years ago. Embodying the director’s vision, those artists contribute to creating a piece of art and become a very important part of it. During two previous editions of the Festival we had pleasure to have Janusz Gajos and Krystyna Janda as our guests in this section. On August 5 at 4:00 p.m. we will present another complex personality- Jerzy Stuhr. The meeting with the artist will be held in ‘I Love Cinema’ Café.

Apart from the screening of his most interesting films, you’ll also have the only chance to see him in ‘The Double Bass’ monodrama which will be staged in PEARL Festival Club on August 6 at 9:00 p.m.

The monodrama has been drawing throngs of spectators for years. The play, written by Patrick Süskind, is an ironical tale of a lonely man who cannot come to terms with the thought of playing the ‘last’ fiddle not only in his orchestra, but also in his life, and who tries to fill this lonely life with music. The monodrama has been staged over 600 times since 1985 and it still enjoys great popularity. It’s been staged in the USA, Canada, Austria and Italy.

Despite the fact that the play is rarely staged nowadays, Jerzy Stuhr will make an exception for TWO RIVERSIDES audience. No wonder the tickets to the spectacle sold like hot cakes and are almost like collector’s items.
